Stay Chilled and Dance – extra class offerings, Burlesque workshop, and private classes now on schedule!

We’ve had a fun and busy first half of July - it’s nice to have the extra space and mirrors!

Some classes have been filling up so I added a couple extra spots - Saturday July 21st noon Flexy N Heels class and Floorwork class Monday July 24th right before Unleash the beats (you can totally do both). This Floorwork class will focus on technique over Choreography (I’ve decided to alternate: learn, apply, repeat..)

Also we added a August Version of our popular Belly Beats Fusion class (July filled up weeks ago!) so hop on that if you want in.

BURLESQUE CHAIR WORKSHOP — Friday July 28th

We have been prepping this for a bit and it will be super fun. Will include an easy introduction to

  1. Strategic clothing removal (bring a top layer you can take off. Corsets or long zippers/Buttons are great)

  2. A playful total beginner showgirl style chair routine that is still pretty cute and fun. Can incorperate fans!

  3. A finale with tassel twirling (tassels can be attached to bra or directly to skin - supplies and tips for wearing and attaching will be provided.

This workshop does require I purchase snacks and some supplies and is NOT included in the Unlimited Membership. However at $30 for a two hour workshop it is still a great deal. Also female only to help everyone feel comfortable stripping.

If people Enjoy the Chair Choreo we will add more ‘regular’ chair classes in the future.

PRIVATE CLASSES!

Now that I have the single-pole petite pole studio (booking options coming as soon as I get my Crash Mat in) I can more easily set up the schedular for Private classes. I have added a 30 min and a 50 min options:

https://1989pole.as.me/Privatelesson1

I have not officially added this option to the website but it should be up and functional if anyone wants to book a private. Depending on what is going on in the studio we can use the big or the little space.

Why Book a Private class?

There are quite a few reasons to book a private - For me personally it has really helped me learn moves that I am struggling with and I need a second set of eyes to help me figure out where my sticking point is.

  1. Learn at your own pace with out having to worry about the rest of the class.

  2. Send me a specific move or mini sequence you want to learn and we can break it down together. ( I also have a large library of Pole resources on available online - there is usually more than one way to get into a move)

  3. Get help working on a choreo. (I have quite a bit of experience blocking out choreography)

  4. Review where your specific challenges lie and get targeted conditioning exercise recommendations

Why you should take Pole 101 -

This week Pole 101 will explore a couple different ways of getting up and down from the floor.

My goal with this class is to lean a little more into the ‘dance’ side of Pole Dance and build body awareness, fluidity and muscle memory for foundational pole moves. No matter how many fun tricks you learn you still need to string them together with some dancing!

This class is also good if you can’t lift your body off the floor with just your arms - I try to focus on leg strength as we build shoulder strength.

I recommend taking this class a couple times before moving on to Pole 201 because it will make the transition much easier. In 201 I do assume that you are familiar with basic techniques so we can learn tricks faster!

Unlimited summer classes still an option!

Just $65 a month through August.

September 1st I will be raising the price but keeping the unlimited option as its been very popular (nothing crazy but we have to pay the rent).

Useful links!

Short video of foot exercises for dancers. Great for building strength and reducing cramping in heels. 1st 7 min are most useful for our purposes. Also since I love feet I like that this is foot only video. =) Just doing heel raises as you go about your day is a great way to prep for heels.

123Poling recently updated their website and added a nice free Knowledge base section.

I used to subscribe to their website - but found it to be geared more towards the advanced poler. I might have to check them out again.

And just in case you want to watch old Carmen Electra videos:

Its on my to-do list to try these out. If anyone beats me to it tell me how it goes!
