December & January at 1989 Pole (Let’s Do This)

Deep breath. Big exhale.
The calendar is mostly locked in through January, most of my Christmas shopping is done, and I am calling that a Christmas miracle. PHEW.

Speaking of - 🎁 Last-minute gift idea:
I’ve added a 4-Class Gift Certificate for $40 as a holiday special. No coupon codes needed (so you can give more than one). You can purchase it and print it out, which makes it perfect for last-minute gifting. This special goes away after Orthodox Christmas (January 7), because the holiday season is long and we support late last minute gifts. 😏

DECEMBER NOTES (for January tea, scroll down 👀)

Studio Closures
No classes December 23–25

Holiday Scheduling Reality Check
Most Monday and Tuesday classes are still on the schedule. That said, I will consolidate or cancel if sign-ups are low. If you are planning to escape your family to dance, please sign up as early as possible so I can keep those classes running.

This Week Only
Floorwork
Wednesday at 7:30 pm
Last special off-the-pole class of 2025. January Wednesday schedule coming soon - see below

Belly Dance Bonus
The holidays did a number on belly dance, so we are making up for it.
I am adding two alternative belly dance classes:

Friday, December 19
Friday, December 26

Yes, that means two classes this week. Shimmies wait for no one.

New Year, Same Me (but Stretchier)
🎉 New Year’s Day
I am still hosting my FREE Intro to Pole class.
Start those resolutions immediately. No waiting until January 2.

A quick New Year thought.

I actually like the New Year. Not because everyone suddenly becomes a new person, but because it gives us permission to start again. Yes, sometimes goals are unrealistic. Yes, sometimes changes only last a few months. But sometimes one small, valuable habit sticks, and that matters.

Exercise you genuinely enjoy is one of the best all-around habits you can have for long-term health, mood, strength, and aging well. I won’t even try to list all the upsides. And for what it’s worth, quite a few people who joined last January are still here. Some of them even performed on stage this year.😱 So optimism is not naïve. Sometimes it’s just accurate.

Ara will be teaching a beginner-friendly version of her Spinny Shapes workshop. This is perfect if you are new to Ara’s style or want a supportive, motivating introduction.
Yes, you can sign up as a total beginner. That said, even Ara’s beginner-friendly classes require some strength. If you are brand new to fitness, I recommend starting with my FREE Intro to Pole class on Thursday, January 1.

January 17 – Doubles Pole Workshop
💞 Saturday at 1:00 pm
I will be leading another doubles workshop, and I am officially calling it a recurring thing. I would love to offer doubles once a month.
Two people making shapes together is genuinely beautiful, and these workshops are always ridiculously fun.

January 23 – Fan Veils Belly Dance Special Class
